Wayne Rooney And Frank Lampard Included On 10-Man Golden Foot Shortlist
Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard are among the nominees on the 10-man shortlist for the Golden Foot award
The England duo are in contention for the award, which is given to players aged 28 and over who are still playing. Unlike other awards, the award isn't merely given to the best player, it looks at the achievements of the candidate and also the personality they display
Players aren't allowed to claim the accolade more the once, but the list of alumni to have won the award is still utterly stacked
Roberto Baggio was the inaugrual winner in 2003, while fellow Italians Alessandro Del Piero and Francesco Totti are also past winners, as are Ronaldinho, Ryan Giggs, Didier Drogba and Andres Iniesta
This year's shortlist voted by a number of international journalists sees Wayne Rooney, despite his difficulities for Manchester United and England, on the shortlist along with Chelsea legend Lampard - who is one of three representatives from the MLS
Legendary goalkeepers Iker Casillas and Gianluigi Buffon are included, and there's no surprise to see Lionel Messi and Ronaldo involved too
The overall winner of the award will be determined by an online poll
